On July 23, 2007, around 11 am, a faulty cable triggered a major power outage in the city of Barcelona. Many neighborhoods remained without electricity for more than 78 hours. Over 150 mobile generators had to be brought in to help restore power in what was the largest deployment in Barcelona’s history. For one month, the city’s landscape was drastically altered by the presence of these big, noisy and colorful boxes.
